Membership

Membership of Chalkwell Ward Residents Association is available to all those living in the ward or who own a business in the ward. Associate membership (without voting rights) is available at the discretion of the committee to those living outside the ward, but who still retain an interest in the area.

Our membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March, and the cost for the year 2024-25 will be £5.00 per individual or £10.00 per household (aged over 18). If you would like to join the Chalkwell Residents Association, please complete and return the membership form on the Documents page of our website. To contact us, please click here.

Included in the price of membership is entry to all meetings and a monthly newsletter with information about matters of local interest. Members and their guests can also attend occasional social events - annual fixtures are our lunch in the spring and a quiz night.

Meetings are held 10 times each year, on a Wednesday evening. This year, we will hold five in-person meetings (April, May, July, September, December), all at Westcliff Baptist Church, 560 London Road, Westcliff, and a further five meetings will be held online. Contact us to register to participate. Non-members may attend in an observer capacity at a cost of £1.00 per person per meeting.

Each year, we invite a range of speakers on topics of local relevance. The second part of each meeting provides individual members with the opportunity to raise issues of current concern, with a view to joint action where appropriate.

Chalkwell Ward Residents Association is well supported by its ward councillors:

Nigel Folkard

Stephen Habermel

James Courtenay

who attend meetings, answering questions and helping with problems relating to the local community.
